Just like Olivia Pope taught me, when something is important you go Over A Cliff... or.... over the side of Two Commerce Square at 20th Market!
On October 20 I'm participating in Building Adventure, a peer-to-peer fundraiser. Building Adventure is similar to the charity walk/run/golf tournament model, but instead of those (non-terrifying) activities, I'm raising funds to qualify for a spot rappelling down the side of Two Commerce Square, a 315-foot wall.
My first job in Philadelphia was as an Americorps VISTA at Simon Gratz High School. The kids I worked with had the opportunity to partner with Outward Bound for urban expeditions that challenged and changed them - a lot. I saw first-hand how transformational those experiences are. The moment you realize you accomplished something that you thought was impossible. Or that time you tried to give up on something that's "too hard" only to realize that there are people in your corner who won't let you give up on yourself.
Help me create more transformational moments for young people. All funds raised will support outdoor education programs for 8,000 students from more than 100 public and charter schools in Philadelphia and across the region.
